At the end of the season many perennials die back. As they lose their color they become ghostly versions of themselves before fading back into the earth.
Some seeds too have a ghost like quality.
Finally the pods and stems remain as skeletal reminders of what had been.
They can be beautiful.
Sometimes light alone makes an object appear ethereal.
Another of nature's apparitions is the early morning sun lighting up a spider's web.
By the end of winter only the barest outline may remain, a delicate reminder of nature's process.
As with all cycles it takes coming to the end to begin again.
Now we wait for spring.
